For the SONOROUS series, we have provided these as parts which, depending on the type, proactively change the sound. 

Ear pads play a very important role in sound quality.

One of these relates to the problem of fitting. When there is a gap between the ear pad and the ear, large changes occur in terms of the acoustic pressure of low tones, and this has a considerable effect on sound quality. Because of this, the choice of materials for the ear pads and the inner sponge is important.

Another role relates to the influence of aging (the phenomenon whereby the sound produced by the headphones changes in a favorable direction as they are used). The ear pads themselves are a large component in terms of change over the years, and hence a big influence with respect to aging. The ear pads adapting to the shape of the ear is a good change, but if the shape changes too much, there may be deviations away from the type of sound that is favored. Based on such a viewpoint, on listening trials and on comfort with respect to the ears, we employed synthetic leather with the same amount of stretch both horizontally and vertically and which changes moderately over time.

For the SONOROUS series, listeners can enjoy proactively changing the sound based on the materials and construction of each type of earpad. By all means, please try to discover the differences with each type.

A-type

Standard feature model: SONOROUS VI, IV

The internal aspect utilizes a mesh material as well as employing thick, strong sponge; sound quality is adjusted by creating an appropriate space between the ear pad and the wearer’s ear.

Combination with models other than the standard feature model

– SONOROUS X, VIII, III, II: Since the tuning method for SONOROUS VI and SONOROUS IV is completely different, we do not recommend using these models.

B-type

Standard feature model: SONOROUS VI

The internal aspect utilizes a mesh material as well as employing soft sponge; sound quality is adjusted by reducing the area inside the ear pad.

• sponge: Compared to Type A, the sponge is thin and soft

Combination with models other than the standard feature model

– SONOROUS X, VIII: Since the tuning method for SONOROUS VI is completely different and the fluctuation of frequency characteristics is great, we do not recommend using these models.
– SONOROUS VI, IV: Overall sound is tight, and the outline is easy to make out. In particular, the sensuousness of the vocals can be expressed extremely well. Since low resistance sponge is utilized, the fit is improved, but because the pad is on the thin side, depending on the person it is possible that the front plate will come into contact with the ear.
– SONOROUS III, II: Compared to the standard pads, the balance leans towards mid- to high frequencies while retaining the merits of each product. For those who like the sounds of SONOROUS VI, we think it would be worth your while trialing this product.

C-type

Standard feature model: SONOROUS X, VIII

A three-layer filter is installed; an aperture has also been created on the inner aspect of the ear pad so that sound quality can be adjusted.

• sponge: W ring sponge that combines the two types of sponges used in Type A and Type B
• filter: 3 layer

Combination with models other than the standard feature model

– SONOROUS VI, IV: Overall a soft, calm sound. In particular, low frequencies have a relaxed, soft sense of sound. A combination with which you can encounter new SONOROUS VI and SONOROUS IV sound.
– SONOROUS III: The low frequency core is clear, making for solid heavy sound.
– SONOROUS II: Low frequencies are increased, and sound has a thickness to it. Since high frequencies are also softened, overall sound is soft and calm.

D-type

Standard feature model: SONOROUS III

A three-layer filter is installed; an aperture has also been created on the inner aspect of the ear pad so that sound quality can be adjusted.

Combination with models other than the standard feature model

– SONOROUS X, VIII: It is the same for large tendencies, but the lowest tones drop away and the resolution of mid- to low frequencies decreases; as such, this is not recommended.
– SONOROUS VI, IV: Overall, there is a warmth to the mid- to low frequencies; for the same tendencies, we recommend this combined with Type C.
– SONOROUS II: Overall a calm sound. A combination that shows you one more sound of SONOROUS II.

E-type

Standard equipment: SONOROUS II

Sound quality is adjusted by the creation of apertures on the inner and outer aspects of the ear pads.

Combination with models other than the standard feature model

– SONOROUS X: Vocals sound bright and the outline of low frequencies can easily be felt. Tends towards high frequencies; overall a refreshing sound that is easy to listen to.
– SONOROUS VIII: Refreshing, invigorating sound. The brightness and spread of the mid- to high frequencies can easily be felt. A combination we encourage you to try.
– SONOROUS VI, IV: Since balance leans towards the mid- to high frequencies, we do not recommend this.
– SONOROUS III: Since the sound field feels larger than that of the standard ear pads, this is a combination that shows you a new sound for SONOROUS III.
